Akemi is a Berkeley-based visionary artist, singer, songwriter, energy healer, and creative facilitator who invites others into a more vibrant reality through authentic self-expression. She works in the Mischtechnik - a classical Old Master technique of building luminous layers of light, shadow, and color glazes - which she has studied under renowned painter Amanda Sage since 2020. Her paintings have been exhibited across Los Angeles and the Bay Area, and shared through commission work, live painting, and even reality TV.

Akemi also writes and performs original music that centers mantra and melody as tools for grounding and resilience. Drawing on twelve years of classical and contemporary vocal training, integrated with somatic practice based in her Buddhist roots, she released her debut EP “Flow Lines” on streaming platforms in 2025.

When she’s not painting or singing, Akemi can be found starting impromptu dance parties, practicing reiki, and organizing open mics at her 15 person Berkeley co-op, Fort Awesome. She’s passionate about supporting others to discover their creative powers, which she believes is essential to creating a more beautiful world.
